Our Story

A studio with aworkshop at its heart

We are a small studio with a workshop at its heart. Design and making happen under one roof, so the drawing and the object never drift apart.

How It Began

European restraint,Indian craftsmanship

“A well-made room quietly improves every day you spend inside it.”

Founded on a simple conviction — that a well-made room quietly improves every day inside it — Modi Interiors pairs European restraint with the depth of Indian craftsmanship. We take on a limited number of commissions each year so that every project keeps our full attention, from the first sketch to the final hand-rubbed finish.

The idea was simple, and the early challenge was real: to guarantee the warmth and precision we wanted, outsourcing wasn't enough. So we built the workshop ourselves — and the studio has been drawing and making under one roof ever since.

The Journey

A decade of building, milestone by milestone

  1. 2014

    A studio begins

Modi Interiors starts with a simple conviction: that a well-made room quietly improves every day inside it — and that the best rooms are drawn and built by the same hand.

  2. 2016

    First bespoke commissions

Early furniture pieces are made with trusted local makers. The lesson lands quickly — to control quality, we need to control the making.

  3. 2018

    The in-house atelier

We open our own workshop and bring master craftsmen in-house, uniting design and production under one roof for the first time.

  4. 2021

    Turnkey homes

The studio takes on complete, end-to-end homes — concept, joinery, interiors, and styling delivered as one considered whole.

  5. 2023

    Recognition

Our work is featured by design press and shortlisted for industry awards — validation of the slow, material-honest way we build.

  6. Today

    A limited, considered slate

We take on a handful of commissions each year across residential interiors and bespoke furniture, keeping every project close and fully attended.

How We Work

Principles that holdevery project together

01

Design and making, under one roof

Our workshop sits at the heart of the studio. Because we build what we draw, the intent behind a piece never gets lost in translation.

02

Materials that age well

We work in solid timber, natural stone, and honest metals — surfaces that earn a patina rather than wear out, and can be repaired for generations.

03

A limited slate, fully attended

We take on a handful of commissions each year — the only way to give every project our full attention, from first sketch to final finish.

Looking Ahead

To keep making roomsworth handing down

Our vision stays deliberately small: to grow the craft, not the output — deepening our materials, our workshop, and the care we give each home, so the work only gets better with time.
